The Last Ride for Good Friend

As a symbolic gesture to a dear friend Howard Eichenhofer

Howard was a long time Friend of Bob Brissette

They started racing together in the 1950’s and together they Built a belly tank (lakester) and in 1957 both Howard and bob got into the 200 mph club Bob being the first then Howard the nexst day and in the early 60tys bob left racing for his family and other personal reasons.

In 2000 Bob and his son Rob came back to Bonneville with Howard popping in from time to time. Howard had come to Bonneville for speed week in august 2007 and spent the week with the Brissette, swapping stories and remembering both the good and bad thing. Most of all letting the younger people around know what the two of them were all a bought Also that they must have been nuts compared to today’s standards.

As one of the younger people there I was proud to have the privilege of just being there to here the stories both of them in there remembrance of days past and to seeing it being relived when I looked into their Eyes. Times like these are so hard to come by and I hope one day that I can pass along a life story as well told and truthful as theirs.

At the beginning of 2008 Howard passed away and his loss was deeply felt by many as well as the Brissette family and as a ceremonial gesture to Howard at Speedweek 2008 The Brissette family gave Howard one last high speed pass at Bonneville taking a ride with Rob Brissette on one of his 250 mph runs down the course.
